| Here in Spain the young people who NEITHER work NOR study have been given the label “Neither-Nor Generation”. They don’t get out of the home to find distractions, so they are also known as the slipper generation. They follow the rule of minimum effort, because someone pays for their food, clothing, bed and other expenses as a reward for their irresponsibility. |

| These young people are not like the prodigal son. In fact, some of them have suffered by having a prodigal parent (or "prodigious parent" as the singer Luis Alfredo calls them) – parents who are not around, a mother and father who, with plenty of resources, are too busy to give time to their family. And when they are around, if their children have a problem, they Neither care Nor answer. We are working to avoid “Neither-Nor Childcare”. All of us, the carers and the parents of these children, aim to face difficulties by expending the maximum effort, so that now and in the future they can live purpose-filled lives. We try to make sure that Neither loving care Nor discipline are in short supply. And that Neither objectives Nor enthusiasm to fulfil them are missing in their lives. This month we have welcomed a new girl into our home. Our very best wishes go to her, and also to her parents and her older brother. In the photo you can see two of our "slipper generation". Their Neither-Nor childhood consists in Neither having teeth Nor being ashamed about it ... , but we are fighting to ensure that they are not lacking in anything else ... and counting on your support for it. |
