| All of us living here in the “Resi”, our Children’s Home, have the challenge of learning to live together. We are all very different. And... sometimes our differences mean that sparks fly! What differences? Well, not just the typical ones of age, sex, nationality... There are other more sensitive facets, such as race, personality, family background... which can lead us to react in very different ways - they either unite us, or separate us!!! |

To get along well together, justice based on “an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth” just doesn’t work. With this rule, the more of us there are, the more eyes and teeth end up rolling around on the ground. A much wiser rule is “it is more blessed to give than to receive”. And not in the sense of a boxing match, either! We’re talking about respecting and being respected, giving way to benefit others, and them knowing how to return such kindness. It means being patient with others and them being able to put up with me and forgive my mistakes. Differences allow us to admire those who are not like us. How do you get on with those around you? Do you know how to love those whose circumstances are different to yours? We are working on it! Here you see us smiling, with all our eyes intact, though there is the odd tooth missing. And the sparks? They don’t show up in the photo. “CANTA Y RIE EN NAVIDAD” (the title means “SING AND LAUGH AT CHRISTMAS”): A music record with proceeds going to our Emmanuel Children’s Home (RIE).
