| Here's our birthday boy, being honoured with birthday-kisses "in stereo" from two beautiful girls, who are also celebrating their birthday. How time flies! Having your sixth birthday means saying goodbye to the sweet and fantasy-filled pre-school period, and getting to grips with primary school lessons. |

For
the second person, however, celebrating her 12th birthday means more than
that. She was born in the previous century. Do you remember that time
(it seems so long ago), when there still existed a coin called the peseta?
She is from that bygone age. The clock has not stopped ticking. For her
it's time to say goodbye to that never-to-be-repeated world of primary
school, that delightful period of childhood. Twelve years old! A new
and very different adventure is on the horizon, full of challenges: secondary
education, high school, adolescence... Oooh! The third birthay in this month of May is that of one of our child carers. Each year, we carers have the challenge of "coaching and accompanying our little athletes" in the long-distance run that they have been entered for, from their early years -of toddlers smocks and afternoon milk and biscuits- to their later years -of calculators and mp4 players. In every lap of this long race we need to teach them to successfully face each challenge, each obstacle, each difficulty. For everyone, birthday presents arrive with a diary full of question marks. But the race continues... |
